The "Fondo Mario" belonged to Giovanni Matteo De Candia, in art Mario (Cagliari 1810 - Rome 1883), one of the most acclaimed and famous tenors of the Nineteenth century European music scene. Interesting figure for his constant interest for the Italian Risorgimento cause.
His library is particularly interesting for the study of vocal practice of the Nineteenth century. It came into possession of the Accademia as a donation of the Odescalchi family.
The collection comprises manuscripts and musical editions from Sixteenth to Nineteenth centuries for a total of about 3000 items (books, facsimiles) with more than 4500 titles.
