Ulrike Kienzle "The gods are far away".

This is the first Italian biography dedicated to the Venetian Maestro who died on 20 April 2001 in Berlin, and the book traces his life, musical career and passion for archaeology.
His youth, his medical studies, his musical studies at the Conservatory of Venice and his meeting with Maderna and Donatoni, his activity as a composer, his career as a conductor, his position as principal conductor of the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (1983-1987) and of the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, the Bayreuth Festival, his artistic and musical direction at the Opera House at the end of the 1990s and the years spent on the podium of the Staatskapelle of Dresden are documented in great detail.
